VINCI Facilities won its 19th PPP project

Germany: VINCI Facilities has been awarded the PPP contract for the construction of the new university building for the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (AEF), including the offices of the data processing center on the campus of Kiel Christian-Albrechts University (CAU), as well as its long-term operation.

 

On 29 June 2021, Heinz Schwabe, Head of the Department of State Construction, property management of Schleswig-Holstein A.ö.R., Joachim Nolden, Head of the Legal Department VED-BT and Alexander Oehlschläger, Head of Project Development and in the presence of Rainer Beisel, Division Manager signed the contract.

 

 

Within 33 months, the planning and construction of the new building will be implemented. The complete design and implementation planning for architecture, supporting structure, building services, thermal insulation, sound insulation, fire protection, laboratory planning, media supply and development as well as the creation of outdoor facilities is included in the construction package.

 

A total of six institutes will find their new home here:

  • Institute of Phytopathology, Department of Plant Diseases and Plant Protection
  • Department of Molecular Phytopathology
  • Institute of Plant Cultivation and Plant Breeding, Department of Grassland and Forage Production/Organic Farming
  • Institute of Crop Production and Plant Breeding, Department of Arable and Crop Production
  • Two Institutes for Animal Nutrition and Metabolic Physiology

 

Special planning challenges is the implementation of the complex functional relationships between the institutes and between office and laboratory areas.

 

With four and six storeys and a full basement, VFS is constructing the building on a gross floor area of approx. 11,000 m² and an enclosed building space of approx. 46,000 m². The pure usable floor space is 5,125 m². The sustainability of the building is documented with a BNB certification (Sustainable Building Rating System).

 

The contract period for the operation is designed for 25 years which is planned to start in April 2024. The services in the subsequent operation include:
