VINCI Facilities has won a maintenance contract for a Smart Building!

VINCI Facilities (EST Electrique – VF Bourgogne) has won a maintenance contract of 15 years for the new Smart Building “Campus Métropolitain de Dijon” in France.

Iconic project in the city of Dijon, what’s the programme of the “Campus Métropolitain”?

The “Campus Métropolitain” programme meets the initiative taken by the Dijon SPLAAD (publicly-owned local development corporation) to accommodate the ESTP and ESEO engineering schools in a smart, connected, communicating and E3C1-certified building complex. The R2S smart building will interact with its broader smart city surroundings by opening its broad pooled common spaces and “ON DIJON” showroom onto the campus and city park.

Urban prestige

Dijon’s momentum is reflected in the metropolitan area’s large ON DIJON digital project and major heritage projects such as the International Gastronomy and Wine Exhibition Centre. This project designed to provide accommodations for the ESTP and ESEO engineering schools is part of Dijon’s endeavour to expand the city’s university and R&D facilities (extension of the Burgundy School of Business, partnership with the Ecole d’Architecture de Nancy).

The building will be an urban landmark located at the intersection of Rue Sully (artery into the city) and the Parc Erasme.

Smart Building

This building is designed to meet an ambitious and original purpose: to accommodate two separate institutions of higher learning and their shared spaces; and to serve as a city-wide digital technology and innovation showcase via its R2S (ready to service) smart building technology.

The project will create spaces that facilitate new educational practices and provide informal spaces that open onto public spaces to support new ways of living and working and foster serendipitous learning.

Educational nucleus

The spaces are centred on a large lecture hall, the “project nucleus”, which can be accessed from both schools, and are raised so that the outside areas overlook the Berthault esplanade. The iconic wide and welcoming entrance is open to the esplanade and bathed in natural light. In the upper storeys, terraces are designed to serve as gathering places where people can interact and relax.

The schools are accessed and operated independently, and the common spaces are easy to reach and close to the shared terraces. The facilities housed in the building (classrooms, laboratories, offices) are designed to provide a streamlined and functional framework for a conventional programme and multi-purpose spaces. The post and beam structure supports modularity over time and reversibility of use.

The project is E3C1 certified, consumption is controlled (comfortable indoor temperatures, sunlight impact) and equipment is durable. Outdoor spaces are planted with exotic and local tree species. On the ground, biodiversity is encouraged by introducing hardy plants, wildflower meadows and varied tree species and by creating habitats for birds and passing wildlife. The landscaping project also forges a close connection with users by creating a wide variety of spaces and supporting a wide variety of functions.

A big success for the teams VINCI Facilities, congratulated by Philippe Desablin, France PPP Director.

« Congratulations to the teamwork on this wonderful project that will be considered as a standard in Smart Building, BIM,  and high-level education, for a full-connected site.”
