Technical Maintenance & Facility Management

VINCI Facilities Basse Normandie has been awarded a multi-technical maintenance contract for five locations operated by Groupe Barrière in Deauville : three hotels – Hôtel du Golfe, Le Royal and Le Normandy – and two casinos – Deauville and Trouville.

The contract started in December 2019 and extends through to 2022. Yan Delaunay, Business Unit Manager,  tells us what he thinks were the keys to winning the bid.

Can you say a few words about the context surrounding the tender?

Groupe Barrière has been part of our customer portfolio since 2005. At that time, we were providing specific services in connection with the electrical and plumbing packages.

In 2015, Groupe Barrière put out their first multi-technical maintenance tender for their five sites in Deauville. Our bid came in second and we managed to get the electricity package, which was one of the components of the multi-tech contract.

In 2019, we were again asked to bid for the same contract. We knew that the hotel and casino managers were unhappy with their service provider, and we felt we would have a fair chance if we played our cards well!

So what clinched it for you?

No doubt what made the difference were our excellent relations with the five hotel and casino managers, who all backed our project. Barrière’s Procurement Department was reluctant to sever ties with their incumbent service provider, whose rates were cheaper. The fact that we were familiar with the locations and that local managers appreciated our technical skills definitely tilted the scales in our favour.

Moreover, we were the only company to commit to a 5% cut in the energy bill. This turned out to be a winning strategic move, and we are currently being audited in the run-up to implementation as early as next year.

But most of all, I would say our bid was successful because the entire staff at VINCI Facilities Basse Normandie came together and devoted all their energy to defending our bid. Also a big thanks to the VINCI Facilities Business Development Division France (e.g. Adam Simic and François Comble) for their support.

What services are included in the contract?

For a period of 3 years, we will be in charge of multi-technical maintenance in relation with : HVAC; plumbing; power and lighting & communications (fire and intrusion detection, access control); automatic doors; water treatment.

The contract will require 2 to 3 full-time technicians and will represent a lump sum of € 600K per annum.

This contract gives us an opportunity to renew our business ties with Groupe Barrière. Working from a position of enhanced trust, VINCI Facilities will undoubtedly be able to offer its services to other sites in France, and to get our Engineering & Works colleagues on board!
