Building Solutions represented at the 2019 Salon des Maires
At the French mayors and local authorities exhibition, held from 19 to 21 November 2019, SERCE, the association of electrical and climate engineering contractors, held a round table on the topic “French tertiary decree: how to meet your obligations”.
Building Solutions was represented by Martin Silvente, a VINCI Facilities energy efficiency engineer. He presented feedback from a 550-pupil school Annecy in eastern France.
The renovation of the building complex was covered by a design-build-operate-maintain contract under which VINCI Facilities is responsible for coordinating maintenance and energy efficiency.
The targets set by the municipal authorities were:
♦ Reduce energy consumption by 48%;
♦ Improve comfort for building users;
♦ Improve indoor air quality;
♦ Boost the buildings’ image.
The works covered heating equipment, control systems, joinery replacement and roof insulation. And the results are spectacular! Two years after the works were completed, energy consumption has been cut by 56%!
“To ensure that this performance holds up over time, we must provide the building’s users with a minimum amount of information; we therefore organised meetings with teachers, pupils and their parents to raise awareness; everyone participated” says Martin Silvente.
To ensure energy efficiency over time, it is also necessary to monitor the installations daily and to fine-tune their control according to actual user needs.
This provided an opportunity to publicly present an outstanding VINCI Facilities project reference!
