New Night Tracking service from VINCI Facilities EBF
Night Tracking is a new service that VINCI Facilities Etablissements Bancaires et Filiales (VF EBF) is offering its customers. The goal is to identify energy wastage in buildings that stand empty in the evening and at weekends.
This new green initiative, which helps reduce the carbon footprint of buildings, is competing in the VINCI’s Environment Awards!
Here, Hugo de Caldas, the business unit manager behind this solution, tells us a little more.
Why have you launched this Night Tracking solution?
This service launched when we took on a new BNP IMEX office building in the Île‑de‑France region (France). We wanted to better understand how the building’s equipment worked during unoccupied periods. The idea was to seek out energy wastage and suggest improvement actions.
With Night Tracking, we ensure both energy savings for the building and better use of the technical facilities. The solution also ensured that entire floors would no longer be lit up at night for no reason – the benefits of that in terms of corporate image and compliance with the new night-time lighting regulations were enough to convince the customer!
How does it work?
We start with a commissioning phase including an inventory of all equipment. Then our technicians work on site at staggered times (nights and weekends) to ensure that installations controlled by a timer or BAS are working consistently.
These operations enabled us to identify inconsistencies in some installations, as well as bad user habits, (e.g. computer screens left on). We were able to create a defined action plan after each Night Tracking and propose it to the customer.
How much does it cost?
Night Tracking costs around €2,000 ex. VAT and includes the inventory, evaluation and audit. The idea is not to price aggressively, but that we can afterward offer optimisation solutions like replacing energy-hungry equipment or adjusting the control system.
What are the next steps?
This service is currently offered to our customers as a matter of course.
The goal is to roll it out across all our managed buildings, but also to offer a renewal every two years to check for potential discrepancies or performance drift in HVAC and lighting equipment.
