Métal 57: a redevelopment designed by Lefort Francheteau Valorium

The 57 Métal building, an iconic piece of France’s industrial heritage built for the carmaker Renault, has transformed into Métal 57 after 34 months of construction work.

Lefort Francheteau Valorium played its part in the operation, which involved restructuring the main manufacturing building and sheds, and extending the original building.

The challenge of this new transformation lies in conserving the original architecture while adapting it for new uses. The architectural approach made a priority of highlighting the building’s “heritage substance”. Inside, the whole structure and all its technical equipment therefore remain visible to enhance the spaces.

Lefort Francheteau Valorium, while maintaining its stringent standards on thermal comfort, had to find solutions for showcasing the different conduits and technical equipment that usually remain hidden in false ceilings. The teams involved took pride in creating this work of master craftsmanship, which finally puts their work and expertise on display for all to see.
