Germany: new logistics project in the starting blocks

With a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony on 27 September 2021, the uvex group launched the project to build a modern and sustainably-designed logistics and service centre in Rednitzhembach in Germany.

Autumn 2021 then saw construction work start on the new building, pre-certified by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). On a surface area of 35,000 m², the project includes the creation of an automated high-bay warehouse, an automated small parts warehouse, logistics areas for order picking and the receipt and dispatching of goods, and high-quality office and administration areas with a prestigious space for receiving clients and visitors.

The uvex group is present, with 49 subsidiaries, in 22 countries and is a partner of top-level sport worldwide, equipping countless top athletes. It develops, produces and distributes uvex group products and services aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of people in work, sports and leisure activity environments.

The team from Calanbau Nürnberg with 12 installers, will install the sprinkler system, between May 2022 and, probably, February 2023.

The water supply consists of three water storage tanks (each 650 m3), three diesel pumps and a compressed air water container. In total, 12 wet alarm valve stations will be installed, as well as an external ring of hydrants (10 hydrants) encircling the entire complex of buildings, 20 wall hydrants and six dry risers for the fire brigade.

  • The high-bay warehouse (surface area: 6000 m²; height: 31 m) will provide double-deep pallet storage on 13 levels. 650 ceiling sprinklers will be installed, and 15,400 in-rack sprinklers at 10 levels.
  • In the automated box warehouse (surface area: 2,800 m²; height: 31m), there will be two small parts stores, one on top of the other and each with 32 storage levels. Here, 340 ceiling sprinklers will be installed and 24,500 in-rack sprinklers at 14 levels.
  • In the 2-storey building for incoming and outgoing goods (each occupying approximately 6,000 m²), 1,520 ceiling and object protection sprinklers will be installed.
