Energy savings and HVAC renovation for Sleever Technologies

The Tunzini Toulouse and Tunzini Contracting business units will carry out climate control works as part of an ESC (energy savings certificate) project for their longstanding customer Sleever Technologies, a leading producer of heat shrink films.

Located in Saint Sulpice in the Tarn department, 50 km from Toulouse, Sleever Technologies asked Tunzini Contracting to move a refrigeration unit at one of the site’s process buildings. In an initial discussion, the Tunzini teams suggested that the customer apply for a subsidised ESC (energy savings certificate) solution. As Tunzini Contracting business unit manager Adrien Mazuy explains, “We quickly realised that the site’s configuration and outdated equipment would warrant applying for an ESC. We therefore based our bid on the replacement of two central refrigeration units with unavoidable-energy recovery units that can heat the building during the winter months.”

During the discussions, Sleever Technologies added further requirements: to prevent contamination of its process by insects, the company requested overpressure systems in all production buildings. Meanwhile, the company needed to rapidly replace 12 rooftop units and seven cooling units across the entire industrial site in order to comply with new refrigerant regulations.

Taken together, these energy upgrade works will generate major energy savings for the customer. “We reduced the CO2 impact of refrigerants by 99.5%, from 1,509 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in the old facility to 7.2 tonnes with our solution.” The energy performance contract will continue for a further five years after the work is completed and enable the Tunzini teams to give their customer the full benefit of their commitment.
