At the start of the health crisis, teams from Cegelec Belgium stepped up their works on HVAC and plumbing equipment at the CHC MontLegia hospital to enable the 800 bed to open ahead of schedule.

The opening was crucial during the health crisis since it added more than 40 beds to Belgium’s COVID-19 capacity.

The business unit rose to the challenge and the hospital was ready to receive patients a week ahead of the scheduled date, with 48 intensive care beds and the ability to extend this capacity to 100 beds if necessary by taking over beds in the recovery room and part of the operating room.

The teams were working on fine-tuning the humidity and temperature systems and carry out a variety of minor technical adjustments to offer optimum comfort for patients in sensitive areas.

Our colleagues called on to work in the more sensitive areas received detailed training in the safety measures to be applied in order to comply with the rules issued by the government.

In conjunction with the relevant departments within the hospital, the colleagues working in sensitive areas also received ad hoc personal protection equipment that is normally reserved for physicians and other healthcare workers.
