Cegelec Pays de Savoie lights up Manali Lodge in Courchevel

Alpine Lodges recently entrusted Cegelec Pays de Savoie with the refurbishment of its five-star Manali Lodge hotel in Courchevel (France).

Project manager Grégory Couvert tells us more about this prestigious project reference.

About Cegelec Pays de Savoie

Based in Chambéry, Cegelec Pays de Savoie generates annual revenue of €10 million and has 60 employees – in fact, up to 100 if temporary staff recruited in the high season from October to December are included.

We work exclusively for the private sector and have substantial expertise in holiday residences, luxury chalets and luxury hotels in Savoie and Haute Savoie.

The business unit comprises four project managers who share the Alpine area and a fifth dedicated to the lowlands to offset off-peak winter periods and help out in the year-end rush.

What did the customer ask for? What did the call for tender cover?

This establishment, built 12 years ago, was acquired by Alpine Lodges, the project owner and a major developer with numerous projects throughout the region, including Méribel, Courchevel, Tignes and Val d’Isère (several ski resorts in France).

The customer wanted this hotel completely redesigned as a luxury holiday residence with 18 units located at the foot of the slopes, combined with premium hotel service.

The residence also includes a swimming pool, spa, fitness room, ski room and two restaurants.

Cegelec Pays de Savoie was asked to bid on the power supply and ELV installation, including electrical distribution to the 18 apartments, electric radiant floor heating and exterior lighting.

What made you stand out?

We were able to handle the workload, which we incorporated into our schedule, the main requirement being to complete the building by the Christmas holidays. Four people worked on site, with around 15 involved as the project neared completion to ensure the deadline was met.

What were the major challenges on this project?

We had to an dismantle an existing building in order to deliver the project on time. The project was completed between June and December 2019. Another unique feature of the project was the need for different premium finishes in each of the 18 apartments.

Do you have any similar projects coming up?

We have built a relationship based on trust with Alpine Lodges and hope to develop a long‑term partnership to work with them on their many projects. As part of this partnership approach, we are helping to draw up a CEGELEC/ALPINE LODGES “standard” for future projects. There’s no doubt we’ll be working together on new prestigious projects in future!
