Global energy performance contract for four high schools in the North of France

Now that its high schools are on average around 35 years old, the Nord Department is launching an energy renovation strategy initially focused on four high schools in the Avesnois region.

Nord Regional Council awarded the global energy performance contract (MGPE) for this initiative to a consortium comprising VINCI Construction, VINCI Facilities, Santerne Fluides (with Cegelec Valenciennes Tertiaire as subcontractor), Nortec, Projex, Avant-Propos, and Symoe.

This global energy performance contract sets the following targets:

  • comfortable levels of heat and humidity all year round
  • guaranteed energy performance for all four schools: 40% reduced consumption overall for all four sites with a +/-10% threshold for individual sites compared with the overall average.
  • airtight buildings: leak rate below 1.2 m3 per hour.

To achieve the results specified in the contract, Santerne Fluides will:

  • Replace all or part of the heating systems
  • Install dual-flow ventilation with energy recovery in daytime-only areas and overnight accommodation
  • Fit thermostatic valves to all radiators
  • Add metering to monitor energy use on all networks and outlets
  • Install a centralised BMS to facilitate maintenance and consumption monitoring.
  • Refurbish several of the toilet blocks

Cegelec Valenciennes Tertiaire will replace existing lighting with LEDs and a control system to reduce energy consumption.

Sogea (VINCI Construction) will ensure that the buildings are fully insulated and fit replacement windows.

Works duration: school summer holidays 2022 and 2023.
