Networking pays off: joint order from Lagrange (Building Technologies division and GFA)

During ongoing operations, LAGRANGE TWM (LTE) completed several contracts in the area of heating supply systems, district heating supply, fire protection upgrades and replacement of the air-conditioning systems. The fact that the companies of the Building Solutions division in Germany, complement each other perfectly is being demonstrated by a current project of Lagrange TWM, technical service provider for energy and building technology (part of the Building Technologies division) and Fire Protection Solutions. The companies have jointly been awarded the contract by Deutsche Bahn to restructure the B-level at Frankfurt Central Station.

In the course of the first projects, LTE was able to get to know the demanding processes (conversion in existing buildings during ongoing operations), the complex building (up to ten basement floors and extensive area with up to 493,000 travelers daily) and the technical as well as commercial organization which was a real competitive advantage for the two companies. Even though Lagrange has been working for Deutsche Bahn for years and is itself active in the sprinkler sector, it was ultimately the additional expertise of Fire Protection Solutions that led to the contract being awarded.

This example shows well how successful networking can work within the Building Solutions companies.

As part of the project, a sprinkler system will be installed for the B-level of Frankfurt Central Station, i.e. the access routes to the underground levels with platforms and loading dock, from July 2021. In addition, a sprinkler system will be installed for technical corridors and cable ducts.

A special challenge is that station operations will continue, and only partial areas will be closed. This makes material delivery and construction site logistics in general very demanding.

As part of the contract, the historic restaurant area of the DB travel center and some technical areas in the S-Bahn area will also be protected from autumn onwards. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.

We are pleased that the two companies can benefit from each other and jointly handle this lucrative contract!

Deutsche Bahn will invest up to €1 billion in the refurbishment of the station in Frankfurt over a period of 10 years.
