Cegelec Morocco breathes new life into the Tazi Palace

Sogea Maroc (VINCI Construction International Network), in a consortium with Cegelec Maroc for the technical batches, is leading the refit and expansion of the Tazi Palace Hôtel in Tangier.

The Tazi Palace is a hotel situated within a luxurious 4.5-hectare private estate near the centre of Tangier in Morocco. The aim of the refit and expansion works is to transform this late-18th-century palace into an extremely high-class hotel.

Cegelec Morocco began its works in October 2018, incorporating all the hotel’s technical batches (HVACE, decorative and functional lighting, fire detection, plumbing and sanitation, video surveillance, etc.) for a total surface area of 45,000 square metres, including:

  • 133 luxury rooms and suites
  • 1,400 sq. metres spa and fitness club
  • 2 restaurants
  • Conference space and ballroom
  • Back-of-house and staff facilities
  • Outdoor pool and fountains

A project not lacking in challenges

The customer, Katara Hospitality (Qatari sovereign fund), has strict requirements for its first-ever project in Morocco, and the extremely tight schedule was affected by the Covid pandemic, which pushed delivery back to November 2021.

This turnkey contract is ongoing. The total value is €75 million, including €17 million for Cegelec Morocco.
