France: JUNIA engineering school to expand its Lille campus
Located in the north of France, the Lille campus of JUNIA hosts the HEI, ISA and ISEN university programmes, along with research, business consulting and lifelong learning services.
To facilitate its growth, a vast project to dismantle the Saint-Joseph chapel and ISEN will prepare the way for construction of a Master Hub designed to accommodate 4,000 students and researchers by 2025.
In response to the call for tender, VINCI positioned itself in design-and-build through its subsidiaries Sogea Caroni (VINCI Construction France) and VINCI Energies with Cegelec Nord Grands Projets and Santerne Fluides, alongside the architects Saison Menu and Avantpropos, and engineering consultants Projex.
This project to create three buildings will proceed in two phases. The two buildings comprising phase one, Colson 1 and 3, together measure 10,100 square metres, with a third building scheduled for delivery in 2025 adding another 15,000 square metres.
The project combines a comprehensive electrical systems and HVAC offer with multidisciplinary technical management.
The HVAC part of the project includes radiant panel and radiator heating, plus air handling in laboratory areas and the three lecture halls.
The project addresses environmental concerns with the installation of double-flow air handling units with energy recovery and adiabatic cooling capabilities. This eco-friendly form of climate control uses no refrigerant fluids. Rainwater will also be collected to feed these adiabatic units and for use in the toilets.
One of the VINCI Energies business units involved in the project, C2C, will be deploying its Passive Optical LAN solution, which brings fibre direct to the workstation. Smart Building Energies will be working on the building automation systems (BAS).
All trades total: €70 million.
This includes €7.8 million for Santerne Fluides and €5.1 million for Cegelec Nord Grands Projets.
C2C, Axians Communication & Systems Lille and Smart Building Energies: a total of €900,000.
