AirCool: improving indoor air quality
Air quality in enclosed spaces is a genuine public health issue, not only in offices but also, more broadly, in all service sector buildings. AIR LIQUIDE recently presented a resourceful innovation developed in an intrapreneurship initiative: AirCool.
Dilution is typically used to cut the concentration of carbon dioxide generated by occupants in meeting rooms. But because the fresh air comes from outside the building, it is often too hot or too cold and its thermodynamic characteristics must therefore be modified, which consumes energy.
AirCool purifies air without consuming energy. The device is connected to an air recycling duct and uses an absorption process to filter out the main pollutants: CO2 (carbon dioxide), formaldehyde and VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
The AirCool device is fitted with its own ventilator to control air flow without interfering with the main ventilation network. It is also equipped with sensors and a PLC that manages the entire system to achieve the target air quality.
In both new-build and existing buildings, the AirCool system can be installed in the mechanical room in which the air treatment system is located.
